Unhappy R.I.P. my little 944

At 11:30 am this morning my car was murdered... On my way to lunch some lady my an illegal turn and failed to yeild and slammed right into me.

Worst part was she is un-insured... luckily I have that on mine, but still... Today sucked bad!

We have had several front end collisions in the past month or two. Sorry to hear about the boo boo. Hope things turn out for the better.

Wow, a 944 is hit and the thread is over 10 minutes old without a parts request.

Sorry for your loss, similar thing happened to me as I sat there helpless as my girlfriend (now ex) backed into my fender.

It must be a CA thought process, but I agree, sue the bitch for all you can get. Then of course buy a 951!

Are the wheels Porsche? Sorry, had to break the ice.

If the front frame rails are not bent, I would say it's quite fixable. Looks bad but a new fender, hood... some skins and you'd be good to go. There are no major mechanical components in the area where you were hit... luckily. If your engine cross-member is ok you might have been spared. I hope. I bet your headlight bar is even ok and the socket for that one "eye" popped. So sorry that it happened.

yeh the wheels are factory 996 TT I got from Carlos at Wheel Dyanamics. Now, what he is doing is sending me an invoice saying I paid retail for them since they are OE. 800 dollars each, hopefully that will add to what I get back. Plus the tires are the AVS sport by yoko and my dad retired from there so I got them for 500... but they retail at like 320 a tire.. so I might make off prety good with just the car and all the money I sunk into it, such as the new clutch I just paid for YESTERDAY 1640 bucks.... (includes new brakes too)!!!

Well my mech unfortunatly said the frame looks bent.. His guy is gonna look at it tomorrow to see if its worth fixing..

I doubt the insurance company will lemme have any parts once they pay me.

You can buy it back from the insurance company after they declare it totaled... usually at a really cheap price. Just ask them. Trust me, they don't want to deal with getting rid of it. You can fix it, just do it.

That's if the frame is not bent... ask him to show you where it's bent and how he knows.

I say go after her, salvage what you can. Like you said, new clutch. Get a 951. Best of luck. Those pics are just painful. Sorry.

Oh man, sorry to see that damage.... but I will hoar up for parts if you total it and buy it back... will drive over...

http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/ddl/frfaqgen.html

"Yes. If you own a vehicle with at least four wheels and are registering it, you must have Florida insurance."

This ought to be good - sue her *** to the hilt. It's non-insured FL drivers that totally jack our premiums up...

EDITED TO ADD: Hacker Pschorr, you inspired me to ask for parts... plus, seriously man, reminds me of when I lived in Munich and drank Pschorr, Paulaner, etc...
