I hate uninsured people. I like how the authorities are doing a whole lot about her being uninsured. I also hate how people are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions.

Remember this: she is responsible for this, go after her. If she can't get you cash, then get the court to deduct it from her pay, or foodstamps or whatever.

As an alternative, and I'm not sure if you can do this legally, but you can put a mechanics lean on whatever she lays claim to and then sick a collections company on her and reposess her POS and sell it on ebay.

Man, sorry to hear. it sucks to know another is injured, possibly fatally wounded.

but yeah, is she a resident, or is she an illegal with a fake ID? if she's an illegal, good luck. I hope to god for your sake, she's a resident. it'll make tracking her down and suing her that much easier.

Bummer!! It has reached the point where I am always concerned when I drive my 42k mile 944 around (Tampa Bay area). Takes some of the joy out of the experience. Hopefully the "Porsche God(s)" have something good in store for you!! Good luck!
Regards, Doug

I hear ya. The first time I was hit I got rear-ended by an uninsured motorist while driving my dad's 911. She lied to the police about insurance, so when my dad called the police to report it, they said "call the DMV." When he called the DMV, they said "call the police". No such punishments have been levied on the two subsequent uninsured motorists that hit me. And Virginia claims to be "tough" on these bastards...

Anyway, sorry to hear about the car... tough break.

BB.

That looks totally salvageable...and to behonest even with a little frame damage. Just depends on how much time you want to deal with that kind of stuff.

Testarossa is right. Get some new body panels, a control arm, strut, lights and you're good to go. It won't be a show car ever, but it will have track potential.

My car has bondoed quarter panels because it was involved in a pretty bad rear ending. It wasn't totalled but it should have been by the PO. He fixed it, painted black over garnet red and sold it. I just painted it again a year ago and it looks a hell of a lot better than it did with the first repaint. This car only serves 2 purposes, daily driving and track duty...all it's good for until I decide if I want to fully restore it after I retire it from racing.

Just a little bit of encouragement for you that you can still resuscitate her

Alen, you ever figure out what's wrong with your engine? If the block is okay, can I have it?

and i don'tlike people who drink/drive, life goes on.

a mechanics lien?????that's why moast people have insurance protection from uninsured motorists.

your 3rd recommendation could take a lifetime to pay for the car, where his insurance will have it cleaned up in 10 days.

Not yet jeff, just sitting there getting dirty, engine still in. Im fearing the worst so im looking for a inexpensive engine to get in there and get her on the road again till i get the time and money to tear apart the engine and see whats up. But once i do that, and see if its not rebuildable, the block is yours.

Right-o about having insurance protection from uninsured motorists, but I will gurantee that his rates will go up from this. There is yet a 4th option. Go to her house wearing a big floppy hat. lay a clean backhand on her, then put her on the corner.
