Age:43 and the list of my cars currently and previously owned are shown in the signature below. I havent included the company cars ( 7 in total so far ) but these are all boring everyday cars that pale in comparison to the Porsches and Beamers I have driven.

I am looking to buy another Porsche transaxle

I'm 48 and I had always told my wife (we've been married 27 years now) that I would have a Porsche by age 40.

I missed my 40th by a stretch. But, without the subject coming up in recent years, she bought my 944NA for my birthday, 3 years ago. She bought it, trailered it back to Dallas and had it hid out at her son's house for two days waiting on my birthday to come around. I didn't know I owned it or even see it until she said "Happy Birthday!"

If I could do anything different? Nothing. Life's too short for regrets.

I'm 25, and bought my 944 last year.

I've been Porsche obsessed since 8 or 9 years old, and during college spent a good deal of time test driving all sorts of different cars, trying to get a sense for what I wanted in one. Nearly all were new to 10 year old sedan or pseudo-practical coupes. I spotted a 944 for sale for $6,000, test drove it, and no other car mattered to me any more. Feedback from controls and a nimble balanced chassis are the most important things in a car to me, and I don't need to tell any of you why a manual steering racked equipped Porsche hooked me immediately. I spent 5 years scanning classifieds and reading about these cars, but was travelling around the country, moving from state to state ever couple months. The 2005 Jetta tdi I had started giving me serious issues, requiring work every couple months. The last year I had it, I ended up spending more to keep it on the road than I've spent on my 944 so far, possibly including fuel and insurance. Naturally, I gravitated to something simple and with good references for learning to wrench on, and last year, I moved somewhere with a garage space, and bought one. Wouldn't trade it for anything else.

I'm 64, have had two 944's. Started with a $1200 '84 that had been sitting with a bad fuel pump for 7 years in the NM sun, turning it Guards Orange. After a thorough buffing, the usual belts and WP, tires, clutch, and yes, a fuel pump, it became my DD for two years. About then another $1200 944, an '86 that had a light hit on the front valance, showed up on Craigslist and was soon mine. It too had been sitting, but under cover, for 6 - 7 years, only 89k miles. Very nice interior and above average exterior. Once again, clutch, belts, tires, A/C conversion, and fuel pump. It has been my DD for the last 7 years and 30k miles. I've driven it from Albuquerque to Chicago a couple of times, to KY just shy of VA once, and back and forth to Phoenix, with never a problem.

Why do I own it? Aside from the fun, it has been the cheapest car I've owned in a long time! All told, including purchase, I've got under $5k into it. I've had thoughts of selling it to move on, but I can't find anything that gets 30 mpg, looks as nice, handles as nice, at anywhere near the price.

Oh god. I'm 37 now and still have the Turbo S, bought back the 87 and turned it into another race car with a team and added an S2 race car to the garage.

I'm 11 years older than when this thread first started when I had a 924S and a 944 Turbo S. Sold the 924S and crashed the 944 Turbo S. Bought a 968 5 years ago and its been a work in progress ever since...if I could only get it down off the jack stands in my garage (yes, this is a request for help ! I've bought almost every part I need to turn it into a decent DE/Club Racer...but life gets in the way and I'm putting a heater in the garage real soon) and a month ago bought a one owner 944 S2 that I've actually been driving but will go into storage in a few weeks. OK, I'm 62 now.

64, a recent convert to the Porsche brand. But pretty much always have some sports cars and motorcycles around since I was just a wee-lad.

43 old, it is my second Porsche, previously owned a 997, FS here. Always liked the 944 since child, previously owned an BMW E46 M3, 2 Honda S2000, a Subaru STI


Bought a Turbo S with 130K and lot of work to do on it and plan to use it daily and some track events

54, and this is my first Porsche. I found my 84' 944 in a private listing where I work, got it for $600 ( I may have paid too much)

The first car I ever bought was a couple weeks after I turned 18. It was a 71 914. Guards red with 916 bumpers. I started taking it apart for some repairs right before college and sold it as a basket case 2 years later.

My next Porsche was an 86 944 Turbo that I bought to counteract the negative effects of buying a minivan(my 3rd son was on the way so we needed a minivan).
In late 2011 Jeremy Himsel did most of the work(I help a little) rebuilding the engine and I replaced and upgraded almost the entire drive train. I finished in October and got rear-end by a chevy truck in November. RIP 86 Turbo.

I spent the insurance money on my current 1990 944 S2 Cabriolet.

Every Porsche I've had has put a smile on my face when I see/saw it and especially when I drove/drive it.

I now have a 914 project sitting in the driveway for my oldest son.
