Default 85 1/2 944 Door handle problem

I JUST bought this car and the passenger door handle seems to stick. If I pull the thing in then kind of tug on the door it opens, but i'd rather it just open smoothly. Anyone have any idea on this?. Also the sunroof hasnt been opened for probably 9 years the guy said, and the motor is dead. Would cranking it open break the seal, and after that how would I go about replacing the motor? Does anyone have a front bumper cover for this car perhaps? Man I combined all this into one post.

Where are you at? For info about the sun roof try here:

944 Sunroof Operation

There are a number of things that could casuse the door to "stick," like the door is not hanging right, the latch needs to be lubed, the linkage is out of adjustment, etc.

If you have a door panel "fork" you can remove the door panel and take a look at the latch mechanism and linkage.

Update your user profile and signature to indicate where you live and what model of 944 you have. This will let owners in your area lend you a hand.

We had the same problem with both sides on our 85.5. It turned out to be the little plastic (fragile) adjusting stirrup inside the door pull. You have to gently remove the actuator ball from the stirrup, turn the stirrup a few turns to make it tighter, then gently reinstall the stirrup onto the ball. This worked for us.

im guessing its n/a since its a 85.5. I have a motor out of a 924s, should be the late style like yours, should still be ok been on the shelf awhile. What do you need a bumper a nose or a lower valance? I second updating your profile signiture, put your name and car etc...

Thought I would post this here. Since this thread has a pic of that Piece of $hit plastic door actuator. Long story short, there are metal to metal contact points in the Handle itself and in the door latch actuator that are worn and the New Replacement plastic (FRAGILE) piece on the handle is MAXED out to full adjustment.....So no matter how hard you pull on the handle with the new plastic piece installed...the door will not open....

So another FORSCHE solution has been designed.... I made one of these and epoxied it onto the plastic pivot piece and it works like a charm....No need to buy a new handle or door latch mechanism.......

Is that just a reinforcing sleeve to keep the platstic piece from breaking?

I machined it to extend the threading (m5 x 0.8) insertion depth of the factory plastic actuator when even a new plastic actuator cannot fix the problem of the worn metal parts in the handle and latch mechanisms.
You can make these from ABS or Delrin or Billet and just glue them to the old plastic piece.

I made mine from black ABS that I had laying around and glued them on already and re-installed.
