thats because the knock sensors are pulling out timing like crazy.
do i have to say its moronic to run 23 psi on 87 octane... and dont you have the stock k26 turbo? can you say....no effieciency whatsoever. havent you already gotten yelled at on the turbo board for that...

the dme has no qway of knowing what fuel you put in it. (unless its bad fuel and causes knock)
it only knows knock. when it senses it..it retards timing. if it doesnt..it doesnt.
if you put uber good fuel in the car. ther computer doesnt know that it can make more power from it. im not sure if the S2's have a fuel quality switch like the NA's
if it did you could advance the timing maybe? otherwise your just wasting your money.

I used to put only premium in but now with th rcent gas prices i ahve been varying myeslf. if i am emppty sometimes i will go with 89. Though sometimes i do still put in premium.
