Default 944 widebody?

well from my previous thread i got some help and got links to performance upgrades through the aftermarket. now that ive been exposed to the performance side of the 944 i am now curious to the exterior mods. mostly, i am just interested in a clean wide body. anyone have any suggestions or even better pics to help give me some sort of visual aid. i ran across this picture from the lindseyracing site, are the rear fenders upgraded or is that stock? he fitted some pretty deep dish wheels and i imagine those could not fit on a stock 944 w/o any fitment issues.

Most of the widebody fenders are made by a company called GT-Racing. I cant find there link right now however. All the parts are fiberglass and from what has been said before take a significant amount of work and skill to get them lining up correctly. The most popular addidtions to the 944 Turbo / S2 body style are the addition of a front splitter, the rear 968 style bridge spoiler, 968 mirrors , 968 door handles and vented header panels.

Here are some examples...

Bob Howards GT3 race car has both wide front and rear fenders. For a quality job though, expect to spend somewhere ~10k. Unless you have a hook up on a chassis that's already been widebodied or you are going racing and need to put down BIG power. I'd say, not worth your time. Unless you have money to burn!

As for GT Racing, I've had nothing but positive experiences with Hank. The entire front end of my car is fiberglass, GT Racing Hood, Fenders, Bumper, Lindsey Racing Stage V nose, AIR splitter. As for the extreme amounts of time required for fitment, they have been GREATLY exagerated. Nearly everything was BOLT UP, the tolerances were very good. The only place I might have a slightly than larger gap is a couple places around the nose panel (which is an issue on nearly every 951 anyway). The tough fitment is in the rear if you go WIDE because you have to cut the chassis up.

That 951 was featured in Excellence. IIRC, it makes ~700 HP.

do they not make polyurethane parts?? my only issue with fiberglass is durability b/c they are known to crack and warp. is there some positive reasoning for the parts being fiberglass to make up for its durability issues? i like the front end of that example of techno duck. $10k is def. not my budget for a widebody so that will remain a dream for now. ill look into gt-racing just for kicks.

MPD47 what ext. mods are on your car? i am assuming thats your car on your sig. i like that nose and intake vent on the headlight cover. my previous car (2000 honda prelude) was black and sported gold volk rims and i decided to change it up and go for a pearl white for the 944 but looking at your sig is making me change my mind.

this was last project.

Polyurethane parts??? I don't think i've seen that from ANY Porsche tuner.

GT-Racing offers all their parts in Carbon Fiber as well however.

GT racing also makes CF parts now - not all, but some are available. http://www.gt-racing.com
