-- 500 of these sport edition 924S were built for the US market to celebrate Porsche's 12th outright victory at Le Mans. The sport edition included many changes. Stiffer suspension shocks, bushings and stabilizers were added. Power windows, power locks, passenger side mirror and rear wiper were deleted to save weight. A lightweight cloth fabric was used instead of the heavier leather. The final touch was a smaller diameter leather wrapped steering wheel. This car also benefits from the increased compression ratio of the euro-spec pistons (10.2-1). The bump in CR provides an extra 10-15 hp over the US-spec engines. --

you just quoted this guy: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/471183
do you actually know for a fact? besides mine is stated as an "Special model 924S USA 1988"

the things different about my SE is that it has:
1. Drivers side Club/Cup mirror and no passenger side mirror
2. Cloth door panels
3. Cloth Seats, front and back
4. Rear wheel rock gaurds (rock deflectors or w/e they're called)
5. No rear wiper
6. Manual locks and windows

Here are my option codes:
My Option Code Website

Then go here to decode them:
Option Decoder

Then tell me what you think

---All I got from research I've done is to check the rear area inside the hatch and look for an option code sheet. This will tell you what options came from the factory. As far as a Le Mans edition, I think it was basicly Koni coil-over shocks, larger front and rear sway bars and a slight lowering of the ride. The Euro code is 755, I think all US models it's 756. Some cars were sold with a special graphic on the sides of the car that said Le Mans and the phone dial rims were detailed a different color. Porsche also produced an eariler (1980) Le Mans edition and those cars were white with a thin red, yellow and black stripe painted on both sides. The 924S verison was only produced during 1988. I think only the black color was sold in the US.

Reference: Orginal Porsche 924/944/968, Peter Morgan; 1998.---

Taken from an older post...

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...56+option+code

Seems fairly consistant with what the guy on CarDomain said.

yeah i have the option code 756, but does it mean that its that sport edition? or a lemans (i thought that was only for early 924's)? i'm pretty sure its not a leman's, although the car does have the fabric doors and seats, i know that was one characteristic of the early lemans. i'm so confused, anyone know anything about this?

A quick search on the Pelican forums turns up this.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...ght=option+756

'well, my car fits the profile and the option codes, but somebody told me that not all le mans versions had le mans stickers or le mans printing anywhere on the car'

You may consider looking at your sway bars and measuring there sizes. That might help identify things. Check to see if you have the M030 option sway bars in particular. I am not 100% sure, but i believe the bars should be 26.8mm front and 18 or 16mm rear.

---

And more information that supports what is mentioned above...

---"Scruffy" was previously owned by Rich and Marchell Fletcher of Durango, CO. Most recently it was owned by Chuck Hanson of Albuquerque, NM. This 924S SE is factory equipped with the M030 sport suspension. The SE was only available in black with burgundy and gray cloth interior and all were lightweight cars with minimal options. The A/C in my car was professionally removed as a weight consideration and the car tips the scales in autocross trim at just over 2600 lbs. This car won the CSL class at the 2000 SCCA Solo 2 National Championships with Marchell at the wheel and also set 1st and 3rd quickest times in the open class on day two of that event. In addition, at the 1988 Porsche Parade autocross, Marchell drove Scruffy to the fastest female driver's time in ALL classes. The car also won the P6 (men's) class that year, beating all the 944's. It has a 26.5mm front bar, Koni sport yellows, the factory coil-over struts are resting on the next-to-lowest threads, the rear is lowered and it has a limited slip diff. I run Kumho or Hoosier autocross tires on all four wheels. It now has just over 140k miles and much effort (and money) has been put into the car to replace and rebuild wearing components.

This should be enough to convince you right?

well all that fits exactly but it technically does not have the m030 suspension upgrade on the option codes list. BUT it does have Koni Yellows,(original) not sure about sway bar size, dont really know anything about sway bars. how is this possible to have the koni's but not the m030 option written down?

So this car has higher compression than the already "bumped up" compression ratio on all of the 1988 NA's? or is the same for all 88 NA's?

Same motor as all 88's (924S and 944)
The difference is in suspension and a few weight savers inside.

That said if you are building a race car or fast track car they are no value since all the "upgraded" parts will removed anyway.

They are great for stock class autocrossing were you can't replace a parts, however.

There was one that fellow would autocross his around here. Nice car, but not OMFG fast or anything.

It was sold and got turned into a 944-spec race car. Then it was wrecked badly and sadly was a complete write off. The good news was that it protected its driver very well. She suffer nothing but injured pride.

sounds like a project to recreate when i start working on Erin's car. Paint it and put an 88 motor in w/ all of those upgrades, make a lookalike lemans or SE 924s w/ 7" phones painted a different color.
