Nope. Kevin's dad recommended it, and he has refinished MANY a wheel... it's safe for aluminum. the stuff is CRAZY! as soon as you put it on, you can see the paint start to bubble... after 5 minutes, you can pretty much grab a corner and peel the paint right off...with no residue. when you're done, rinse with water, and you have a shiney, non-painted aluminum wheel...

don't get the spray stuff... it doesn't work nearly as well... but the aircraft remover can be purchased at Auto Zone for $9.00 or so for a small can, $22.00 for a gallon jug...

Ive never worked with the stuff, but would it be safe to use with tires still on the wheel? Depending on whether or not UPS finds my damn wheel, i plan on using these tires for the rest of the reason (they have about 1/4) tread life left. Considering it eats the paint like that, i would assume no... .

So basically do you just put the stuff on, rinse, then start painting? Any other prep work need to be done?

make sure it's dry.

as for tires, Yeah, go ahead and do it with em on... but, don't expect them to last too long...unless they are solvent proof...and this is a pretty damn powerful solvent... I say go for it, just do NOT drive on the tires...

Not that I can really tell because of the low pic quality, but they look pretty good. I'll bet they look great in the dark colored wheel.

Techno - if UPS doesn't find your wheel, I've got 3 late offset phonies collecting dust around here. Let me know if you need one or two. I'm sure we can work out a deal that will make you happy.

Geoff - wheels look good. Find that camera, the phone pics aren't cutting it. I used the Dupli-color 'graphite' paint. Is that the same as the stuff you're using?

Geoff. find your camera by the time you get tires mounted and the center caps on.. They look GREAT!

FWIW I used a Krylon on mine, but after 3 years in the outside it's about time for a freshen up.
I LOVE that combination.. May have to do that color scheme myself..

I did my center caps using a procedure someone on here wrote, using permanent colored marking pens, spray paint, and clear coat. They turned out great, it was cheap (walmart sewing section).
Is this how u painted yours ?
