Guys, read the back of both bottles. Both of them say "Not for sale outside the Americas."

This appears to be a tempest in a teapot, and the "German" Castrol is good ol' North American Castrol.

If you look again at the pictures, the german one says "made in Germany, imported by Castrol North America" while the US says "made in USA from domestic and imported components".


So what does that mean? Is castrol pullling supply from overseas?

How exactly did you come to the conclusion that because one has a green cast and the other does not that one is full dino and the other is full synthetic?

Colors don't mean anything. The founder of Royal Purple came up with his original oil for an industrial application and asked the guy what color he wanted it to be. They guy didn't care so the founder of Royal Purple chose purple.

I know, I was trying to find out why Fishey would conclude that because one liquid has a greenish iridescence and the other does not then that must mean the one that is greenish is syn and the other is dino. Does that mean the Mobil 1 I have been using is dino too

There's a whole forum dedicated to the green-stuff. Seems like it has almost a cult-like following. Guys will buy 8 cases at a time "if they can find it".

edit There is a thread right below it that seems to be related to the one I posted above. On the second page is a post where a guy named Bruce381 did some lab tests on the green and the gold Castrol and writes that at first blush they seem to be the same thing.
