Default 944 wrecked (pics)- need diagrams of core without fender skin.

Here's the damage: http://www.lextech.org/images/stuff/wreckedpcar/

Insurance totalled the car at $6,220 in damage. I gave my father the car and he was driving when someone crossed the center line to turn in front of him oncoming into a road. Now I am trying to get diagrams of the core so I can make an effort to get that corner straight and fit some new panels.

If anyone has some diagrams and pics of "skin off" just the core with no fenders or header panel, that'd be great. Thanks.

R.I.P. to the '86.5

What insurance company values a 944 at $ 6,220 ???

or is that what the damage estimates were and they said " Hell NO "

The local Porsche dealership may have some diagrams of frame geometry as well as " no-skins " diagrams.

BTW, that link no workey ..

I'll see what I can dig up.

Get the body shop to straighten out the frame. It looks like the left frame rail is buckled (look under the air filter and you will see an indentation). Also, it looks like the entire front end has shifted slightly to the right. It will take you a long time to do it by trial and error and it will be mediocre at best. The body shop has measurement points and specs to straighten everyting out. Remove the panels and other parts so it won't take much time on the frame machine to save you money. If you do everything else other than frame machine time, it will be much cheaper.

Yes, and they are for sale as the folder indicates If by some chance you do anything with them, here's pricing: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179028

The car loan value is $5650 and the damage was $6220 so they totalled it. It's an '86.5 with 128K on it. It got all above average marks (their top score).

Lego, I am going to use the frame machine, but will be handling the inner skin myself. The car is not being built for resale, it is just being built to give back to my father again. It was a B-day present and he will keep that thing until he dies.

Here's the actual estimate so you can see the breakdown.

Myself, I plan on just finding a parts car or front clip locally. No biggie.

The factory shop manuals, in the chassis volume, has all the info you need. They have a diagram with all of the points of measurement. I have it, but I don't have a scanner, sorry I can't help you with it.
Maybe someone else can scan the pages for you....

Did the exact same thing to mine a while ago, got a shop to do the frame and soft metal work for about $1000, then I repainted the car myself for around $800 in materials, etc. etc.

Let the pros do the straintenting, and do the rest yourself...
