After careful logging of every fill up, I average 21.26 MPG, mostly around town.

The highest highway only MPG was recorded at 40.27, but I've since concluded that this was an anomaly.

I figure around 29 MPG when more highway driving is mixed in with the around town stuff.

HAHA, people are always blown away when they ask me about the 944 if they arent familiar with them.

Wow, by the sound thats a 6 or 8- Nah, its a 4. 3 liter, but a 4.
Wow, thats what a 95 or 96? - nah its a 91, but its rare. Most are 89 or before, and they ewre designed in the 70s.
What kinda gas does that gulp down- 32 - WHAT!!!! thats better than my econo-whatever!
You must pay an arm and a leg to buy and run these! - nah ...--spouts of average prices-- "jaw hits floor"
And it holds 4 people and their weekend luggage! Obviously you sensible purchase doesnt make much sense huh? You can have your cake AND eat it too with a 944!

The gas mileage really gets em' though!

I would say i get abour 20 around town and about 30 mpg on the highway. One talk usually last about 350 miles before i fill up again (i usually do not let the needle hit the R if i can avoid it)

4 people with luggage?

Umm, how about 2 adults and 2 kids and luggage for short trips like a 1/2 hour.

Guess we must be pretty tall folks or something.

The rest of your points, absolutely!

OK. Miss read that one. Sorry about that, but you are right, you can do 4 people, and you'd still have the trunk for luggage.

How in the world are you getting 32mpg? I daily drive my S2 about 90 freeway miles per day and get about 24mpg. Maybe I need to service the fuel pressure regulator or switch to smaller injectors

wow...seems to be lots of varied MPG figures.....

On highway trips averaging 70-75 mph I get 34 mpg, however if I up the ante a bit and drive 80-85 my figures drop down to about 29 mpg. That isn't very scientific though, because all the 70-75 mph driving is done on boring, long flat roads (eastern MT) and all the 80-85 mph driving is done on fun, curvy, higher elevation roads (western MT)..............

Okay, what maintenance items should a person check or replace to get the best mileage?
