Well, I'm in the process of yanking my tranny to install the Gaurds LSD. I got everything loose and turned the shafts on the side of my old tranny and they both turn the same direction in gear. DOesn't an open diff turn in opposite directions? Am I trading one LSD for another?!

get someone to try and hold the other one still while you turn the other side. if they still go in the same directino in 4th gear then thats what your prolly doing.
that would be cool huh!?

Sounds like you might be. Your old diff, though, is very likely getting on in years and wear. Clutch LSD's like the factory one and the new Guard you have do wear out over time.
So I'd still swap for the new diff.
