Default Is it worth fitting a rear wiper to a 944?

I live in Norway and due to cold nights and cold winters, get a lot of condensation on the car at this time of the year, (or snow later in the year).

I have just bought a 944, and it has no rear wiper.

Is it worth getting a motor, and fitting it to the car, or am I wasting my time? Do they work OK - other posts say they rattle or are too heavy to be of use?

Anybody after-fitted a rear wipe system? Is the wiring loom ready, or will I have to recable the car?

All comments welcome.

I guess it's up to you on how much trouble you want to go through. I use mine during winters and cold evenings when the hatch is fogged. You could just as easily wipe it off before you start driving. I rarely use mine while driving.

I have one on my '86 951, it works just fine. I didn't have one on my 924S nor on the '89 944 that I had previously and I never missed it.

There doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to go to the trouble of fitting one.

I've driven my 944 in the snow -- it's nice to have a rear wiper then, but not necessary. If the wirings are already there (should be a couple of wires in the left side of the trunk, and a connector for the switch in the center console) then I'd say why not. I wouldn't go through the trouble of laying down wires, though.

I use mine all the time in Florida. But, it rains here pretty much constantly. You really only need it when there is a lot of water or frost on the rear window.

I'm also in Florida, and it's helpful in swishing off the morning dew (rather than using my hand or cloth). Somewhat useful when it's raining and I'm in traffic (times I need good visibility from the inside center rear view mirror). My motor has a worn armature and needs to be replaced ($) or repaired (not so many $).
