All the 944 cam chain tensioner pads have a 928 part number, they are sourced from the 32v V8 in the 1985 928. Good work changing it. Let that engine howl.

I did post some pics of this a while back, but I think it is worth posting them again to show what can happen for those on the fence if it is worth it.
I was lucky, no other damage.
I would suggest having the chain and tensioner examined if
you have just bought a car
if your car has no record of them being changed
and as a matter of course include it into the belt change every 50k-60k as part of the service schedule.
Lastly, if in any doubt.... prevention($) is better then cure ($$$$$$)
change them!
