My only concerns is that there is a mechanical part that might wear out much faster than the bulb itself.

The high/low is an electromagnetic solenoid, I expect it'll last a long time. No parts that are likely to wear out.
I have a kit for my 928 and I think I'm just going to get another kit to keep for spares, given the price. Overall I was pretty impressed with the quality of the kit. The instructions, however, are more funny than helpful.
A friend with an A4 has had this kit installed for over a year and another friend I think has driven 5K miles since installing a kit on his 928. So far so good.

I'm about to complete a set of updated battery cables on my car. I also ordered a set of HID lights because they're so dirt cheap now. Think I'll get a second set for the other half of my fog lights ( I don't run headlights, The first half is in the fog lamps ). I've spent too much on the cables but I was in a rush and had to pay for things like next day shipping, I'll have to work out how cheaply I could have done it had I actually had time on my hands.

I think Dan was an asset to anyone who was even aware of him!!! An incredibly tenacious tinkerer whose quests, muses, and investigations resulted in great benefits to those of us in the 944 community, and others as well, I'm certain. He was a sailor, a diver, a 12 volt fanatic!!! His design work and the execution of it was stellar!!! His aura re: sense of honor was tough and dignified!
Each time I see his name... or tell a friend about some problem Dan's ingenuity had solved... I smile... and have a little bit of tear in my eyes! Every time I turn on the ignition, Daniel Wray, his passions and talents, are remembered!

I can *finally* join the ranks of the awe-inspired. I replaced my negative battery wiring with his setup -- picked up used/new a while back. WOW... that's all I can say. Your legacy continues, Dan.
