So what is the best way to deal with stubborn exhaust bolts? If I need to cut them off will a dremel tool be good enough?

i wouldnt cut the bolts. i would go at them with pb-blaster and heat, and if they break, then just drill them out and replace

Got the head and exhaust manifolds off. The exhaust studs came out rather easily. The biggest hassle was getting a bolt off the lower exhaust flange because I had to attack it from both ends. PD-blaster works great. any tips while I have the head off? I have a machine shop I can hopefully take it to wednesday. I am also considering stripping the heat shields and getting the exhaust thermal coated but budget and time constraints may prevent that.

fyi on my head gasket. There was no burn through on any rings but serious deformation on the #4 cylinder which crushed the material behind it. I expected this to be the main problem area as the spark plug was wet when I pulled it. The other rings were showing very slight deformation but those plugs were dry.
