Default Twist Wheel Set (New Pics)

I'm considering the twist wheel set for my '87 N/A. Anyone have any idea of the max size and offset my car would handle?

I have a set from a boxster S with excellent michelin pilots 225/255 setup from the factory. the tires have at least 80% of the life left and are 200+ each new.

the rears fit and didnt rub my brothers 89 NA wheel well. They are in excellent shape. one small scratch on one front, no curb rash.

www.hartmanwheels.com

Check this site out. They make 17" Techonology I replica (turbo twists) wheels. Your '87 is a late offset car so be sure to chose that offset. I forgot exactly how millimeters that offset is though.

I also wouldn't recommend an 18" wheel since it puts some stress on the control arms and ball joints. If your car has not had these changed yet, I'd advise against 18" since they may where the ball joints faster.

EDIT Hey Tom you have pix of those wheels right? I think you referred to them on a more recent thread here about a day or 2 ago.

Don't quote me on this, but 52mm offset?

Where is the rim master Tifo when you need him?

Ok, i did a bit of research. From Danno's Racer-X webpage:

'87+ 944NA 16x7" Phone Dials (52.3mm) 16x7" Phone Dials (52.3mm)

That was stock.. so i'm assuming you'll want something similar?

very correct Wes. You get a cookie

Aftermarket wheel companies that make wheels for Porsches will usually use a similar offset for them to adapt without sticking too far out of the wheel well. I also recommend you to check out Mille Miglia. These wheels are also in expensive and will save you from spending more than $2,500 on factory OEM wheels alone

I really like that style of wheels Porsche came out with for the Boxster S. I've seen other pics of Wes' car with those on and they look really good.

Yea, I really like the turbo twist look too, but last I heard, they were cast and not forged. Forged being lighter and stronger from what I recall.

I have a set of aftermarket 17" turbo twists, brand new - still in the boxes. Just haven't gotten around to putting them up on ebay. Extremely nice. Cost new was $1150.00. They came as a package with my black 87 turbo... make me an offer. I don't remember the numbers but they are pretty wide. Drop me a line if you're interested and I will send along some pics...;] Bruce

Tom R. sold me his Twists (Thanks Tom!)... This means I will have a set of phone dials for sale from the '87, anyone?

I also have a set of "cookie cutters" that really need to leave the garage. Had them on my '84 till I put on the phone dials.
