Default 951 DIY Clutch writeup?

Well - I knew it was only a matter of time, and that time is NOW!

I need to replace my clutch in my 951, and am considering it as a DIY.

Are there any good do-it-yourself writeups on this? I know it is one HELLUVA job, but I'm not ready to stroke the check to my mechanic for 20+ hrs of labor.

Also - in my research - I have seen the pros/cons of using the cup clutch....I feel that this is probably the way I want to go. What is the best source for the clutch packages, and are there any other kits I should consider?

Clarks garage has it almost word for word. There was only one step i think that was out of order, but other than that, it will take you through it exactly.

Do you have the factory workshop manuals? Clarks Garage's right up is great, but the bad thing is they don't have many pictures. The factory manuals and Clarks Garage's site used as a supplement will definitely make the clutch job easier for you.

oh! also check out www.tech-session.com by Paragon Products. There' s a clutch DIY in there too with pictures for reference. Good luck

OH i know what the difference was, on his write up he says to drop the tranny from the crossmember, and the 2 13mm bolts are a major pain in the butt to access....not so much coming down, but going back in. Much easier to drop the crossmember with the tranny attached to it (1 17mm bolt on each end of the crossmember, and disconnect the fuel filter), and it comes down and goes back up so easy. The bolts are long, so that when putting it back into place, you just have to get it somewhat close, then you can get the bolts started and pull the tranny up into position. When i did my first clutch job, i didnt even really know what a clutch looked like or how it worked, and clarks site was the only reference i used and I had no problems.

Mike Kehr did an excellent writeup several years ago.

Here's the link to the procedure...
