I recently picked up a set of C2 turbo replica wheels and they are shiney and chromed out... yea i know a bunch of bling bing looks like rice, but hey they were practically free... so go ahead and flame if you want, but i was wondering if i have to get special lug locks and nuts for it? Im looking at the paragon products steel lugs for just the standard lugs, but i need to know if i have to buy genuine porsche lug locks that have the correct seat pattern for the porsche wheel. What is the seat pattern, and if i dont have to get the genuine porsche ones, what reccomendations do you have about locks to use?

I am not sure, but just go with the porsche. I have some 993 locks on mine and they look great, unlike the 44 factory ones that stuck out. I got em for $30 but that was from a guy in washington, not a paragon or anything of the sort.

do they use a key socket, or an actual key like the 44 locks?

They don't use an actual "key" like the 44's did, but itsa lug key that you slide into a socket. At 5 feet you can't tell that they are locks, which i like.

Thanks for the info silverbean! Hmmm does anyone happen to have a spare set of 993 wheel locks, or anything except the ugly 944 wheel locks for sale?

For whatever it's worth, I have McGard wheel locks on my car. They kept my wheels on that one time someone tried to steal them.

But that's not the impressive part... what's really imprssive was that that one, single wheel lock (no lugs at that point) held my passenger-front wheel on for that 140-mile drive (at 70-90 mph) before I noticed someone tried to steal them! <eep!>

Are the MacGard Wheel Locks the ones you can pick up redily at like advanced auto? The thing im worried about most is if they seat right, and if they will fit the backs for my NA wit h the spacers removed?..... http://www.wheelenhancement.com/inde...=31&alt=chrome, those in the early offset are what i have. 7.5 X 17 and 9 X 17. . . genunine from teh dealership locks cost an arm and a leg. . . so mCgard it mgiht have to be for a while.

i have a new set of 993 locks that they are talking about , problem is i only have three and the tool. Long story short, never misplace the socket for these if you put them on. I found mine after the fact. I'll sell you three w/ the tool for cheap though.

LoL XS, thanks for the offer, but are they deep enough to catch all the threads when i dont have the spacer on? and is it even possible to find a 4th one to match the set? Id have a rough time if i came out and one wheel was missing because it was the only one that i didnt have the lock on...

Don't waste time with lugnut locks....

I know if I was a wheel thief they would not stop me (since they can easily be defeated). The 944 style lock is actually much more time consumeing to defeat becuase you need to mess with a lock/tumbler assembly the 993 style (any aftermarket) ones can be defeated with a gator grip and taken off just as fast as any other lugnut.

i would have to disagree with you there. The 944 key locks can be taken off in about 30 seconds, smack the center tumbler out w/ a hammer and a punch and your done. The 993 locks have relief cuts and are made of hardened aluminum. Stick a socket on there smack it, hit it w/ a rachet and watch the end of the lock lug break off. Ask me how i know, and ive pulled plenty of locks that had lost the sockets before. The 993 locks can not be removed in my opinion w/o the tool, or drilling the stud off the car. Just my experience.

My wheel locks kept my wheels from being stolen when I was on a business trip four hours from home.
