I noticed on Top Gear the Brits referred to them as a 9-4-4, 9-2-8, & 9-2-4. I don't know if that is a UK thing or European in general.Of course over here we just say 44 magnum-the most powerful handgun in the world , and could blow your head clean off. Do you feel lucky?

Subject to personal preference, I think.

I've always called mine by the numbers - nine four four, nine five one, etc.

The etymology behind the Porsche designations are actually "series" so the two fours aren't really together to mean forty-four, just like the nine doesn't mean nine-hundred.
