Default Five Tips to Passing Smog(Any State)

1) Make sure oil is changed - That way, the blowby gases of combustion is the cleanest.
2) Use a "cold" spark plug while tuning-up - Before smog test, switch to the standard Bosch WR7DC or Copper plugs, which lower NOx emissions and lower cylinder head temperatures considerably.
3) Use the highest octane gas you can - Always the cleanest burning, 91 pump-grade octane works best when adding a Aromatic Hydrocarbon solvent such as Toluene, B12 Chemtool, or beleive it or not- Lacquer Thinner.
4) Run the car on the freeway for 30min prior to ramping-up the chassis dyno. A hot Catalytic Converter is most likely to be working at its' optimum.
5) Do not modify anything on the intake, or timing - You will fail the visual inspection, if such mods are apparent. And Tracksters- be sure to replace that test pipe, with the Katalysator, please.
