Default My front end is creaking!

No, I mean my CAR!

Got it back from the mechanic after getting the belts, rollers, and an allignment done. Now the suspension is making a creaking noise when I go over a speed bump, or make a K turn?

Is there something to grease in there, to stop the creaks?

Is it a creak or a clunk? My front sway bar bushing is gone and when i make sharp turns it hits the braket with a clunk. I would say check that first.

Creak - like an old bed. I remember when I first got the car, and drove it in a heavy rain, the next day--creak from the front suspension. Could some grease have been washed away, from something, causing the creak?

Had the same problem. It was the motor mounts that were bad. You may wanna check them..

I had this problem and it was my sway bar bushings. They needed to be tightened as the sway bar was just moving around like they weren't even installed.

My motor mounts are brand new Porsche OE. It could be the sway bar. I'll check that out when I can. If I can't fix it, I'll take it back to Powertech.

Nope, no alignment required. You can put the front of the car on ramps (safer) and leave the suspension loaded to change them. Pretty self explanatory once you're under there. Good time to put in the M030 sways

Second best $$ for $$ suspension investment in these cars. You already did the first (a good alignment).

Cool! I'll order some bushings! Should tighten up the feel too, right?

Yeah, should tighten things up, especially on the right hand side of the car. That gets the oil and ATF spills that drips down on the swaybar bushing and rots it.

Did you upgrade your castor blocks to the 968 ones? I think the castor blocks could cause a creak.

I did my sway bushings, new motor mounts, upgraded castor blocks and front end alighnment. There was a creak at first when going over speed bumps but after a month or so it went away.

Another product plug (just a happy customer) on the front sway-bar set-up...

KLA Industries sells a pair of brackets to triangulate the bushing holders. I was losing the little circlip on the end of the front bar and having it "walk" a bit side-to-side. I put these on and that bar, bushings, and circlips have stayed put through all forms of street and track duty.

Something to consider, easy to add on at any point.

When I put them in, I ramped the car and put a light tension on the engine with a good jack. I was careful not to shift anything.

Just another 2 cents, so I think I am up to 4 now!

I would bet money that when they did the alignment, they didnt tighten down the strut mounting bolts enough (The eccentric bolt and the other one...You really have to crank those down hard sometimes) and the strut is moving slightly on the spindle. I would take it back and have them put it on the rack and tighten those down more, that way the alignment wont get out of whack if you do it yourself and accidentaly move the eccentric bolt a little

I would bring it right back, if getting there wasn't such a PITA for me! I didn't upgrade the castor blocks - not sure, but I did have an oil leak last year. Maybe oil got on the bushings.

You would think while they were doing the alignment, they would check out the wear components in the front suspension...right? I even asked if there were any parts that could be replaced while the car was there. He said everything was fine.

Jacking the engine...does that give you more clearance for the sway bars?

Pisses me off. I have no time for trips to the mechanic for re-do stuff.
