87 or 89 Octane for NA 944?

Cheapest available for my stock 85/1. Regular (87) works fine and is what the manufacturer recommended. Perhaps some of the performance gains some are getting w/ higher octane fuels are due weight savings in the wallet or the ever reliable but dyno.
