Default Need 968 parts or motor

Well i got my leakdown test back and it looks like the motor will have to be pulled apart again . The thing that makes me so angry is that i paid a porsche shop 2800 to do my rings, head, oil pan gasket, etc... to do all of this work and look what is wrong. I have no idea if they installed the rings wrong or now but i decided since i will have the motor out of the car i am going to build up the motor. Thanks in advance.

Ya. I figure if the motor would haven't been leaking so much i would have made even more power at the same boost levels. I was already making 351rwhp and 360tq at only 16.5psi untuned.

Daniel,

I'll have a set of 968 pistons next week if you're looking for some.

If you want to go 2.5 or 2.8 I have a 951 short block I plan to sell. I have not disassembled the motor and checked it out to see what the bores look like so I do not know the asking price yet. I plan to use the head and other parts but I have no use for the short block. It was a factory new replacement block and has 20K or so on it, but you never know what the bores look like until you see them.

Not now cause they only warranty for 4k miles or 4 months. i only driven the dam car 900 miles since i got it back. They actually blew my headgasket and pushed out my front seal when i told them the wastegate was in backwards so i had to pay for another dam headgasket . The thing that freaks me out is that the compression test i had when i first bought it showed 150psi in all cylinders. Soon as i take it to the shop they don't mention nothing about rings but once the headgasket blew again when i got it back from them they took it back to fix it at my cost of course again. Then they stated i had 45%leakage so i paid them to do rings. Now i do a leak down and my #'s are horrible.

Well i figure either way i am going to have to pull the motor to fix my balance shaft leak too. This motor has alot of new things on it so it depends how much you want for your short block. We can get in touch once you see the walls and once i pull my motor

So what are the 968 pistons for? If you sleeve for 104mm you'd use JE's or chevy pistons or whatever.

What are your leakdown numbers? And you're fairly sure the leakdown problems are rings and not valves?

From what i am told is that you do not need to sleeve the block with a 968 piston but with JE's yes. Because the material of what it is made of which i forget.

i think they were at 80,75,75,45 He told me they should be around 125 at least so they were pretty. Plus i am getting massive blowby when i pull the line of the air oil separator and you can see on the oil vapor coming out. I am pretty sure the rings are the problems. The valve and valve guides were done too recently

Oh, you are going to try to bore and hone to 104mm and raise the silicon? Probably cost you more than an S2 or 968 short block (which comes with a crank and pistons.) 968 blocks have piston squirters too.

I am not sure exactly on all of the procedures but i Danno is helping me build it. I am basically getting the parts and he is going to help me by telling me what goes where kinda of deal. I am going to find out more details probably today about the subject. I though you could just bore it and through some pistons and be fine? I will probably have to read up a little more on the subject too.
