Have alarm lock inside fender??

Funny how you notice these things clearly after you find these mysteries.. never noticed anything before, butnow i looked inside the fender and they clealy did just rivet a plate through the fender and painted over it. And from the outside if you look very close you can see the edges of the plate in the paint!! Now that's going to bother me for the rest of the time i own the car. :/

No problem removing the switch. Just connect the two wires back together (I'd solder them or use a good crimp connector.) If the circuit is complete then the alarm is de-activated. Of this I am 100% sure...

yea, i think you are right, when i took mine apart to re-key it, all turning the key did was turn a plastic tab that pressed a metal tab to a little metal nubbin to complete the circuit
