i assume you are talking about the shift boot? Rennbay has a good, inexpensive one although it is vinyl and not leather. If I recall it's ~30 dollars. I can't recall the place but I recall leather ones costing around 60.

I had the same problem, and just ordered one from Rennbay. Haven't gotten it yet but I'll give an update (hopefully tomorrow!).

This company makes a color matched leather one although it's listed with the 911 shift boots for some reason: http://www.aglausa.com/p/home.html

I replaced mine with one from pelican parts I think. It was between 40 and 80 as I recall. It is actually the boot and a new rubber block handle which I think feels better than the old style.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know if you can swap in a shifter from a later car? (on the '83 the **** and boot are all one piece)

I ordered the Agla with the rubber handle, seemed like it would be a better fit with no hassel install. I was feeling lazy! I will post when I get it and let you know how it fits.
