HP R717- 6.2 MPs with 32meg internal memory.
We had a Kodak 7450 (4MPs) for a few days, then I was offered this one at a discount. We compared the two and took back the 7450. I liked the ease of shooting with the 7450, but the picture quality of the R717 was a little bit better (to our eyes). The R717 also has more preset shooting modes and a fully manual mode that the Kodak lacked (if it had it I could not find it). They both took movies (Kodak VGA .mov HP = VGA .mpg) and allowed picture sorting and limited editing on the camera. The Kodak took AA batteries (big plus in my book for a traveling camera) and had a cleaner zoom function (HP has rechargeable flat battery). My wife used both cameras and took significantly better pictures with the HP without having to read the manual (perfect for point and shoot).
I was having fun with the different shooting modes (sunset, action, landscape, etc.) and took some REALLY bad pictures, but these came out pretty good....and I noticed on my sunset pic that the driver door is ajar.....
