Default WTB: Factory Equalizer

Subject says it all ... looking for a factory equalizer.. mine is toast.

I will likely replace it with the Zeitronix wideband at some point...but for now I want to get a working equalizer.

thanks,
Adrial

I have a Blaupunkt BEA-80 with the mounting bezel, mounting bracket, and DIN cable.

I've had it for quite some time. The EQ works very well considering the age of the technology. If you have a Blaupunkt Reno and an unmolested stereo harness installation is plug and play. The amp section is 4x20 watts which is plenty for the average 4x6 speakers. This unit was powering 4 160watt Legacy 4x6's in my '87 NA. I pulled the speakers and put them in my 951, so this EQ is not being used.

I could let this amp go as a package deal with the Reno with one small caveat: The Reno has a problem with sending switched 12 volts to the amp. If you look at a wiring diagram, switched 12 volts comes into the Reno when the key is on. When you turn the Reno on, it is supposed to send 12 volts to the EQ and the antenna booster amp, or to a powered antenna for early cars. For some reason (bad relay maybe?) this Reno does not have that switched 12 volt output, so I had to tap into switched 12 volts from the ignition.

If your stereo harness has been "hacked" I also have a set of the special speaker connectors.

Would you be willing to sell off just the equalizer?

I have a newish (~5 yrs old) Alpine headunit going to a 12 disc alpine cd changer...so I'm happy with that setup.

Let me know...

So you can use the equalizer with a different head unit?

Sure...

So long as your headunit will send +12V power-on signal when it is turned on and you dont mind cutting into the harness a little bit. Mine was already hacked when I got the car so I had no problems....

Chris,

thanks for the link, I will keep an eye on it. Although I have something worked out with AznDrgn.

Devon,

I mounted it vertically in the back left cubby in the hatch. No, not ideal in terms of the function of the changer ... but its skipped only handfull of times in the past 20k miles.

Haha NP... I don't know how I remembered there was a post about the equalizers - nor do I know how I saw it, but while I was looking at eBay, it clicked.

I have that same eq in my 88 S. Only thing is that it does not work. I hav and aftermarket head unit and figure that when the PO had it put in they bypassed the eq. Not sure if it worth it to try to make it work.

Anyone have a picture of the factory wiring harness connectors and/or have a wiring diagram showing the factory connectors going into the radio SQR 46 and eq BEA 80. I am trying to identify and find a source for the factory radio and eq wiring harness connectors.
