Default What Size Exhaust do I need?

So if I get this supercharger and install it, shouldnt I free up the exhaust?

I was thinking the MSDS or other HEADER and then a nice 2.5" exhaust all the way back? Or something better?

Everyone at the local tuner shops say I need atleast a 2.5" exhaust if I am running boost, so the engine can breath, so someone please tell me, what the right size for the job?

Thanks!

Oh any other mods? I am having my spare head ported and polished, rebuilt along with the cam tower. Anything I am missing here? Going to use a MSD 6 BTM setup if the kit doesnt come with something of its own.

just asking... how much are you trying to spend on your car? I wouldnt make any decisions untill you have that supercharger in hand, ready to install... you may want to sell the car, not get the charger, and just get a 944 turbo... ( i have a NA, and id love nothing more than boost, but ive sunk too much in to let her go now)... if your at the begining of your quest for HP and havent dropped 10k+ into your NA... think about a new car... turbo style

Boost is NOT the only difference between the 2 cars...

BTW: i have the MSDS headers, noticable weight reduction (you wouldnt feel it in the car) and moved around the torque range a bit. 4 years on my car and no problems.

If you do go with SC route, anything over 3inch will be OVERKILL.

Thanks for the information.

I don’t want a 944 Turbo, yea I know about the other differences. I am not trying to build a 944 Turbo, I want a much faster 924S. That’s very doable with a supercharger kit under 2k. Well I figure I will end up with a nice fast 924S, that will end up being less total cost, than a dogged, beat up 951. Plus my car is lighter to begin with. I can easily turn it into a D production or Carrera GT looking car. I prefer the C or D production look. It unique looking.

Anyway I figure if I sold this car and used the money I would spend on it, I would end up at best with a very ragged 951, and then have to put money into that. --- Lets drop that issue, please.

I paid 1500.00 for my 924S and it has perfect interior, minus the dash cracks (3 small ones) I had to replace a door and fender and I spend 750 on that including paint.

So that’s 2250.
· + 650 for the head work and a timing belt (I will install).
· +100 for performance head gasket
· + 600 on exhaust
· + 2k on the Supercharger.
· 5600 total.

The suspension was redone on the car when I got it.
Came with
16” rims and tires.
Short Shifter.
Recent Tune Up.

Lets hike that up another 1k or so if I had not gotten a deal on the car, so that would be 6600, for a 951? Maybe if I got lucky and it didn’t need tons of work. I figure I can sink another 1k or more and still not have spent that much for a nice looking project car… Yea more if I do the body kit, etc…

Back on topic, I think the 2.5" will be perfect. I already have a High Flow Cat that I got from the junkyard free, If I go that route.

Nothing wrong with supercharging an NA, let us know how it turns out.
