This happened to me last year. The bearing inside get's munged up over time. There's no easy fix so you'll have to replace the unit.

Has the car backfired recently - maybe could have bent the throttle shaft. OK, I admit it, it s a weak theory. I would certainly pull it apart though. The bearings are rollers and can be cleaned-up (even while they are installed), just have to get teh shaft out of the way.
Most times it is the disk being slightly mis-positioned (or flipped over) following a resal - that causes the sticking. That doesn't really fit your case though (you didn't mention anything about a reseal). A tiny amount of adjustment to the disk might be possible by lossening the screws just a hair. I can mail you a snapring, if thats holding you up - I have a few thousand laying around ;] ...Bruce

I live close to Joliet if you need me. It may just be one of the o-rings deteriorated and is gumming up the works. Before buying a new one, take it apart (you've got nothing to lose at this point) and clean around the bearings well. Then replace the o-rings and see what happens. It's a cheap "what if" and keeps you moving forward while you look for another TB.

I have had it sitting covered with lube oil for about an hour now... doesnt seem to be helping much. Tried some junk yards and they quoted 200$.

sheesh, heres some more pics.

here is the bearing that im thinking is the problem... i justhave a pool of oil sitting on top of it hoping it will free something up.

Yank off the c-clip and take it apart to lube it up. It's not that complicated of a piece.

I had the same thing with mine after ingesting water last year. I replaced mine with a used one from 944online. I have seen a rebuild kit on the net, but can't for the life of me remember where.
