my throttle body is sticking open HELP (now with pics and vids)
I just went and was cruisin with damian 2 nights ago. today i get in my car and start ip up and as im pulling out of the garage i give it some gas then i let off the gas and the pedal sticks down.it popped loose real quick so i played a little and it felt fine again. i drive down ym block and i push in my clutch and the rpms quickly fly up because the throttle is stuck open. i downshift to get the rpms down and then turn the car off. i got back home and disconected the throttle cable and the springs and its still sticking in several places.
I took the throttle body off the manifold and took everything off so it shoudl just spin freely but it sticks mainly when its fully closed. its pretty tough to get open. then if i open it al the way it easily closes until about an 8th of the way and get stuck again.
I cleaned everything off and then soaked it with degreaser in my sink and washed everything and its still happening.
im not sure what to do. what do you guys think?

can you identify if the window is sticking? I presume you have used PB Blaster to rule out a fuel varnish sticking issue, perhaps the TB is broken? maybe a snapped pivot point?
stuck fully closed... i'm still thinking..

it not the window. i can see light coming from all around it when i hold it up. and i cleaned all around were it touches very well. i even went as far so lightly sand with some 300 grit. so theres no dirt or anyhting around the opening were the window sits.

is the fuel supply sufficient? how bad is the AFM? Is there a dead spot in the AFM?
I'm searching here.. sounds like a worn spot in the AFM wiper.
Is the power consistant with the rpm's?

no everything is fine its sriously the window in the throttle body. the little circular disk that turns 45 degrees that is attached to the opening on the intake manifold. It is sticking open and closed and all over. for some reason it just doesnt want to move much.

the cable is fine.
this is pretty simple, I had the throttle body completely off the car. I had the TPS off and the spring and everything you cna take off of it without busting out C clip openers. and it is still sticking. is there a bearing or something in there somewere. on the little shaft the butterfly is on that goes through from top to bottom?

Check to see if the pivoiting seat on the window has ovalized- (Worn from a round) this would cause your problem. HTH
Brett- I wish I could be more help.. gotta pic?

ok got some pictures for ya, and even a video for clarification
here is what the TB looks like from the inlet side wiht a light behind it fully closed.
here it is from the back side fully closed with the light on
here it is stuck in its open position, notice the spring is still attached. it shoudl deffenitly close on its own.
here it is in the stuck position with the light behind it. so its deffenitly not the butterfly hitting anywere.
just because im awesome here are lil videos
you can see here that sometimes it sticks and sometimes it doesnt

Im going to geuss its the bearings inside. Time to get a different one. (a used one is worth not hasseling with the bearings, if you even can replace em.) Just pickup a used one, toss it on and go! (I'd recomend reaseal)
