Are you replacing the slave? If not, you can just leave it connected. Undo the 2 bolts and pull it out of the bellhousing and let it hang. That way you dont have to bleed anything.

Tooo late for that one lol.. its all d/c.

Anywho, i made alot of progress today, worked from 6pm-12pm. Got heat shields off, starter, slave, almost all the bolts for the exhaust cept 4 on turbo, removed intake manny, drained tranny/diff fluid. It don't sound like alot, but if you've done a clutch, you know how they make you work to get every stinking bolt off.

Here is how she sets

BTW, Thanks for the help guys! The funny guy in the 2nd pic, cleaning something.. thats me.

Wes, I have been looking at my car on jackstands for the last 20 days or so. It was soooo nice to see the engine set back in the car today! Please do yourself a favor and replace the rear main while you are in there. That is the whole reason I pulled my engine! It is just a few more bolts to pull the flywheel. No big deal. Shoot me a PM with your address, and I will send you an extra one that came in my shortblock gasket set, if you didn't already pick one up.

Looks like you're coming down to the wire like I did last year with the clutch job. You have a turbo to deal with though. Good luck, I hope to see it and you at the fest!

No fair doing that indoors with lights and stuff. I remember my father and I were just about to slide the tranny out from underneath the car (which, of course, is a much slower and more delicate operation when the car isn't on a lift) when it absolutely started pouring out. Only took us twenty minutes to get that thing from under the car to under the overhang. Good luck.

Sorry Big E, I'm lucky my best friend has tons room and almost every tool we could think of (minus the cheesehead tool, anyone know where to get one?)

On a side note, we got the rest of the exhaust off including xpipe. I think i found my exhaust leak. The emissions check tube? that connects to the cross pipe near the wastegate. The actual line was broken clean off! I'm not positive that is causing my exhaust leak, but my friend is 100% positive thats what it is.

The odd thing is it don't connect to anything. It just runs up next to the valve cover and is bloted there and capped off with a rubber end cap. Is it safe to competly remove this? (of course we would fill the hole)

I'm taking off work either tomorrow or wed to finish the job. Wish me luck again guys, i'm hoping to drive the beast to the fest!

You might want to consider 2 days off if this is your first clutch job. There are some pretty frustrating cruxs still ahead that have jinxed most of us. Another day would go a long way in getting done in time for the Fest. Hope it all goes well for you from here on out.

Napa has the cheese heads so I'm told. I bought mine online months before the clutch job.

Good luck and be patient, I didn't break one bolt on my job but still had my share of "ok, so how does that work?" You will love the car when its done, almost like new. 110% better.

Oh, and KuHL is right. There were a few days that I didn't want to even look at the car for fear of just lighting the SOB on fire. No kidding.... I've never been angry at a car before while working on it, and this thing ended that.

Unsigned, thanks, i'll check with napa. I found them online, at snap on for $16.

That's a tall order there Wes. Get up at 3am, hit it hard all day and go to bed late knowing that last bellhousing bolt has to come off somehow. Trust me try and get another day. I'll shut up now.
