K. so I just checked my owners manual, and it says to add 6.34 quarts... does the owner's manual tell you to fill it to midway or full?

I thought i read somewhere that the later cars have a larger capacity than the earlier ones. Anyone confirm this?

The owners manual for my 1988 924S also states the capacity is nearly 6 1/2 quarts. I put almost 7 in every time I change the oil and it only reaches the upper mark on the dipstick.

The capacity in the owner's manual isn't right.
Mine said 5.8 quarts, and it takes 6.5L, which is obviously more.

My 951 takes about 7.25 - 7.5L if I drain the oil cooler when I change my oil.

While in 2 of my friend's 944s, they only take 6.0L, which is what, 6.3 quarts?
Pretty close to the correct amount.

No idea why they differ like this.

my manual said 5.7 quarts, i put in 6 and it was just a little bit above the second mark. the case for the castrol gtx i got was in cases of 6, most of them are 12 though. they just didnt have any in the boxes for easy handling. had to ****** them up individually

Well, it may just differ that amount zero because of angle of surface the car is on , so even if you jack it level, some parts in the engine are going to drain, others won't... at least a difference of a few tenths of a quart could probably be due to that.
