Question What weight oil are you running?

The previous owner was running 10w 40 i dont know who to trust HELP! oh one more thing to consider i live in TEXAS. Any one have any suggestions on how to fix the problem before it becomes a bigger one? And what weights are others running?

I have 10W30...too low

From waht I have searched on the List...20W50 is better!

My oil pressure is RIDICOUSLY low once the car warms up, and switching to 20W50 will hopefully help. I'll let you know tommorow if it helped me..then maybe it could help you

Castrol GTX 20W50. Have always used it and never had any problems or issues.

my bigest fear with switching to a heavier weight is that it wont get in to some of the realy tight places. and i hope you get your problem worked out . ill have to do some more searching later.

20w50 during the summer. I'll switch to 10w30 for the winter (but then it gets below freezing here).

Clean your oil pressure relief valve, only takes 5 minutes. Or better yet replace it's piston and spring.

If you think these leak, try an air-cooled P-car... My old 'teener was pretty good at marking its territory.

Your 78 has no tight places. I'm quite surprised Haynes recommends straight 30.

Castrol GTX 20w50. My pressure runs fairly high until the engine is good and warm. Then it reads about 3 at idle and just below 5 when cruising.
