Hey guys, I removed my spark plugs so when I was turning my motor over, it would be easier (was doing my tbelt)
I am at the point of putting hte spark plugs back in and 1,2, and 3 all went in fine. #4 spins about 3 revolutions then it meets resistence. I took it out fine..tried a different spark plug..all the same result
To me it sounds like the thread is stripped and I have to pull off the head. Can't do that. No time, no money, and I can't afford to have a car down that long. Car is for sale if thats the problem
what do you guys think
Mike

Get a tap and run it through. It's a standard sized spark plug hole, just get a couple dollar tap from the store, put a little 3in1 on it or oil or something, and turn it through once. That should do the trick. If you cant do that, then you have bigger problems.

I'd try chasing out the threads also with the "proper" tap. I don't remember the tap size right off hand, but I bet you could take one of your plugs down to a local parts house, and match up the thread size (metric). I'd also be SURE to set up a shop vacumn to suck up any debris WHILE your doing this project also.
I know the latest TSB says to install plugs "clean and dry", but.......I NEVER follow that advise. I have, and always will, put a little bit of anti-seize on the threads of the plugs durring install. Dissimilar metals, heat cycles, can and will lock up the threads of those plugs in no time. I also don't like having to tap out, or repair those holes either. After just ONE destroyed plug hole while removing a plug, I doubt you will ever want to go "clean and dry" on the installs either. DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE PLUGS!
If I recall correctly, they should be torqued approx. 20 ft. lbs. Check and make sure of that value. Good luck!

Pep Boys and the like should have a dual-thread spark plug chaser. Runs about $5.00 and has 14mm and 18mm chasers. Also good for chasing O2 sensor and cam tower plug threads.
