Default shifter problems... not just slop

ive been searching the forums and found some nice stuff on the slop in my shifter. my real problem though is that mt shifter is vrey hard to move left and right (2nd to 3rd, 4th to 5th). its almost like i have to let go of the **** hit it over and continue shifting. now i wouldent relly mind except for the fact that i woke up the next morning with a fairly sore wrist lol. anyone have any idea of how i can fix this? TIA

The shift lever pivots on a plastic ball joint that is bolted to the top of the torque tube. Remove the shift lever and lubricate the ball joint. (Also lube the shift lever/shift rod joint while you are in there.) If that doen't cure it, you will have to look at the shifter linkage in the tranny.

You may just want to order a new joint. I believe it's the "cup joint" in the shifter assembly is what it's called. Every one I've pulled off the shift lever has broken on me.
