Interesting.
With my sunroof, if I try to raise it, and at any point, let go of the button to raise it, I am unable to get it to go any higher, unless I lower it all the way, and start over. Also, intermittently, it will only open about enough to get my fingers through. This thread has been helpful. I will try fiddling with the microswitch, see how high I can get it to go

It could be other things you mention, but since it appears to operate normally, just not opening all the way. I would start with the switch. The exact same thing happened to me. Also messing with the switch, or more importantly, the tongue on the roof that operates the switch, doesn't take much effort, doesn't cost anything and may just solve the problem.

I just tried mine and while holding the switch and it went up about another 2 inches. Is there any way to adjust the metal triangle piece that normally presses the switch in?

2.75" holy crap. Mine doesn't even open 1.5". Definately time to play with the switch!

my car did the same thing.
want to know how to fix it in 3 seconds?

take the roof off. put the switch activator, that metal thing on the sunroof that touches the switch. on the ground. and push down on it with the sunroof. it will slightly bend that metal thing. and the switch will then be fixed.

There are two allen head screws in the sunroof. They adjust the angle of the tongue. Just turn them counter clockwise. That should do it.

DO NOT BEND THE PART. The roof is fiberglass, you will do more damage than good. Do it the right way.

So are you saying adjust the sunroof tab (by turning the allen screws that hold it on), so that it is angled up more, so that it hits the switch harder/more??

I thought that triangle sensor switch was just used as a safety to make sure the roof was in before the motor turned??

Yes! There are 2 adjusting screws for that tab. Loosen them, and the tab goes up and hits the micro switch. Just keep adjusting them up until the roof opens all the way.
That microswitch has more function than just a safety.

Interesting! I'll give that a try tonight! Thanks!

Do I need to shim the tab, or will loosening the screws just act like an adjustment, keeping the tab tight--but moved?

by adjusting the tab up or down you can set the amount the sunroof opens essentially. the tighter the tab is on the switch the wider the roof will open, at least until it is at full open.

Ditto. I'm going to go out and try and fix it.
