Default Cracked head

Aside from a good boat anchor can any thing be done with a head that has cracks in it? The car (85 944 NA) ran for a short trip then we found it had a blown head gasket…I tore it down to replace that and found cracks in the head. I have a parts car that will be donating a new head, but what about the cracked one…I do not think that a head can be fixed

It depends on where the crack is. Porsche has guidelines describing what heads they are willing to purchase and recondition.

Of course, where they found the crack in my motor's head was one of the places where Porsche doesn't want the head.

Oh, and as far as a boat anchor goes -- I wouldn't count on it -- over time, the salt water will dissolve the aluminum! I'm thinking of using mine as a coffee table conversation piece!

There are more then one crack, two go to a valve opening and the others are near the bolt holes.

Everyones house seems to have one door that defies all attempts to keep it open using conventional door stops, young kids, pets, and shoes...
