Is it typicaly to hear relays clicking on and off while driving? I hear one behind the gauges to the left and atleast one if not more going crazy at times under the passenger side of the dash.

Can you isolate which relay? Relays do wear out.
Behind the guages? Earlies have the relays under the drivers side column, late's have then under the hood.
What year 944?

Passenger footwell is where the DME is located.. as is your cruise control module.
Behind the dash? I'll let one of the late-dash style guru's handle that one.

Never ran wires but some climate control relay on my car was clicking a lot and buzzing sometimes. Was fixed by replacing the outside air temp sensor. That was busted and sometimes and open and sometimes giving a measurement. CC system couldn't decide what to do for more than a split second.

I get the clicking in my swapped car, normally just in mid throttle. some relay in the DME or KLR I guess. It's not exactly stock so I figure something is pissed off and trying to compensate.

I really need to start subscribing to my own threads . Thanks for the input. It does seem to be related to the climate control. I just got the a/c charged and I don't notice it clicking when the a/c is on. I'll have to check out the temp sensors. I think the relay behind the gauges is possibly for the high speed on the engine cooling fans. Now that I am running the a/c, I hear the fans and relay going off alot and I think their in sync.
