looks like GT3 RSRs took first and second in GT2

and there was an Aston Martin that took third (i think) in GT1

EDIT - make that porsche took 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th in GT2

Congrats- all USA teams took 1st's including 1st overall in the US sponsored Audi.

I LOVE watching Ferrari lose.. it was a bit unfair as Ferrari's were forced to carry an additional ballast of 65Kg based upon the "leveling" effect of last year's performance.

Great piece they had on the 917 however, probably the most ferocious endurance car ever assembled.

It's kind of hard for Porsche to NOT dominate GT2 when they are at least half the field in that class. I guess teams know what car to pick if they want to win huh?

I am curious about this as well. I was always under the assumption that the only reason the Porsche GT2 even exists is so they can run at LeMans.

Can anyone clarify this? If the GT2 doesn't run at Le Mans, what series does it run in??

I believe the original 993 GT2 was built to run in the GT2 class at the time (late 90's) Also at the head of the field you had the GT1 class (no prototypes were allowed for a period) which included the awesome 911 GT1 , Merc CLK GTR etc.

When the 996 GT3 was launched I believe part of this classification still existed but between then and now the classes have been adjusted with the re-introduction of Prototypes (LMP1&2 class). I believe the 996 GT2 is still eligible to race in some classes of Endurance racing in europe but doesn't fit in the Le Mans classification system.

Ahh, interesting. Is Porsche planning to kill the GT2 in the 997 lineup?

Cant say it would bother me if the car I was thinking of buying was named after an out of date race category! I think the models have enough following to survive without confusing the less motor racing obsessed by changing the names to match relevant classes of endurance racing.

As Chris_924S said, just wait til Porsche gets back in LMP. Audi is gonna have to bend over and take it like a man.
