Untold reserves are stupid IMHO. I mean, you are the seller, and you can do whatever you want. Someones going to bid to beat teh reserve at the last second, regardless if they know it or not. Alot of people will just move on if they don't know the reserver, figuring it is beyond what they are willing to pay.

I agree - I don't like the secret reserve thing either. But, when I listed it last time with all the cards on the table, I didn't get one single bid! This time I have 12 bids in the first 24 hours. Funny how things work. None of it really matters anyway, because the bottom line is finding the right buyer. I had a call about an hour ago, who asked what it was going to take to end the auction now... maybe he's the guy, maybe not, but it's getting out there to the people who can buy it.

I think I know the owner... IIRC, he also has a 1987 924S with 3k miles, and a couple other cars... DAMN I WANT THIS!!! Hey carquip, can I come buy and test drive it?

I don't like the fixed headlight conversion. Tacky. Popups look _much_ nicer.

Why is it so many Americans have so much difficulty with the concept of irony?

FYI - this car is the real deal. With 37 original kilometers I can assure you it's not a repaint. I mean, why would it need to be repainted? Look, the owner of this car is an avid collector, with more than 100 Porsche's to his credit, even after selling approximately a dozen or so cars. He purchased this car directly from Porsche Factory, and in doing so, had to sign a waiver that if this car was ever street driven that PCNA would confiscate it on the spot.

Look, let me put this into perspective; Owning a car that 59 other people could own doesn't do it for him. Owning 1 of 59 with the least amount of miles makes it ONE OF A KIND. That level of collecting is beyond what you and I will ever understand.

If you're interested, keep an eye on eBay over the next couple months... as we unleash the best of the best of his collection. Once all the 924's are gone, next comes the GT3 with 31 miles, or maybe the 52 America Roadster, or one of the 3, 89 Club Sports... any requests?

Marie
I meant no disrespect by my statement, however I know it has been on there at least 3 times for certain, unless you have done auctions that are months long each for the two.

I agree with you, this is a very rare car and worth quite a lot. If you do a search for the last time this car was discussed, you will see that I (and a few others) agreed with you; it takes a special collector to appreciate this car, not your average 924/944 owner that keeps his car running with duct tape and bubble gum.

So what are you going to do with a car that has 32kms on the clock after 34 years? Look at it?

I guess you don't have to worry about the T-belt being tensioned properly. Or even if it has one, for that matter...

I know where you're seeing it... after listing it for ebay "auction" I moved it into our "eBay Store" inventory. It remains there indefinately... until it's re-listed for auction. I had a buy it now price of $79,900.

I don't know if you viewed the additional listing information this morning, but last night we found in the original paperwork the Factory Certificate as follows:
Porsche 924 Carrera GTS features: Club Sport Package, 270 H.P. 2 Litre Engine, 930 Type Brakes, GTR Trans Axle, Air-to-Air Inter Cooler, Aluminum Semi-Trailing arms with coil-over rear shocks, Bilstein Adjustable Front Shocks, Aluminum Roll Cage, Weight 2,492 pounds, Production 50 cars or which 15 are Club-Sport Editions, 0-60 under 6 seconds, Top Speed 162 MPH, Fastest Production Car Porsche has ever made at time of Production.

I have had several guys call this morning and tell me that only 5 of those Club-Sports ever made it to the US. Many of them also said they'd track it too!!!

I dunno. This car just doesnt do it for me. Its not like you can drive it. Youll **** away the equity. Taking the car from 37km to 500km would drop the value 30% I imagine.

John Dixon should buy it though. It would be a perfect addition to his collection since most of his cars are static.
