Default I'M PISSED!

Ok, here's the deal. I have been looking for some time for a clutch for my 1981 924 Turbo. I keep getting the runaround that I have a 215 mm clutch when I KNOW it is a 225mm clutch, I've measured the damn thing several times! Can ANYONE PLEASE shed some light on this? 'm starting to believe that an early model 944 clutch will fit my car. The only thing I have a question about is the size of the hole that the torque tube goes through. But even then, the throwout bearing used on the early model 944's is the EXACT same one I use on my 924 turbo. I'm about to pull out what is left of my hair! Please help!

OK....

According to my Sachs clutch catalog (dealer one - I used to be Inventory Accounting Manager for Big A Auto Parts)...

The disc OD for your car is 8 7/8", same as the 944. It has 23 teeth, same as the 944. The pilot bushing is the same.

Ths clutch kit is different.

There are four engines listed however: 31.01/02/04 (79-85) all take the same (931) clutch kit. The 31.03 (81-85) takes the same clutch kit as the 944S. Go figure.

That's about it. The 944 clutch and PP are listed as different from yours.

BTW, it's the NA that has the smaller clutch and 24 teeth.

OK, so if I am reading you right, my engine is a 31.04 and will take a 944 clutch kit? Or 944 Turbo? I'm all screwed up. I wish I had a 944 clutch to compare it to.

Maybe this will help you cross reference part numbers, notice the 944 part numbers in there?

NO. What I was saying is (according to my Sachs catalog) if you have a M31.03 engine, you use the same clutch as the 944S. If you have the M31.01, M31.02, or M31.04 engine, it takes a 931 specific clutch kit (same kit for all three engines).

You can put any 944 clutch on your car. Done it with my 2 hands - no bull****.
