Do they have grid girls at these events?

Anyways, I'm potentially interested in doing some DE and track days -- and try to lead up to getting a NASA license so I can start getting involved with 944spec. There's a trackday somewhere nearby almost everyday. It's just a matter of finding those free days.

I imagine 944Spec would exclude 16v engines? I will be getting out on the track at some point. The recent article in Excellence about a successful 944 series in Australia made me think about getting involved here.

Ex wife child custody battle keeping me occupied right now...

944 spec is very strict on sticking to stock 8v engines. Even compression is regulated.

Yeah, I just went through the rules, 8v only. All the more reason to get one of those $500 specials and race it! I am interested in the NASA DE program as well and could start that in my S.

That article in Excellence inspired me as well and made me think more about the 944-Spec. I was actually waiting to see if there was going to be a NorCal class. Glad it's on the way.

The class is there you just need to show up.

Really the class open for business all that is needed are drivers to start showing up. Looks like we now have two prepared race ready 944-spec cars in Nor Cal. Once is racing SCCA for the moment, the other is doing DE in NASA until the driver is ready to race. If a few you guys start work there will be more. To build a class an organizer can only do so much.

Sanctioning body ....Check
Racing Dates....Check
Rules Structure.... Check
Cars and Drivers.... (This is where some guys need to just do it!)

My last 944 was a $500 dollar special. I really bit the bullet on this one though - paid twice as much!

I'm not at the point where I'm going to build a car yet, but if any of you other norcal guys are building one, I'd love to lend a hand (as long as it's not scraping out the sound deadener!).

Those $500 specials quickly turn into $10,000 specials when you build a race car!
