Default New 924-944-968 performance part available (crank scraper).

For anyone interested, there is now a crank scraper available for the 924, 944 and 968 engines (2.0, 2.5, 2.7 & 3.0L). Available in both a carbon steel with a polymer layer, or in teflon. I've used this company's products on other engines and it is a quality product. You can check it out at: http://www.crank-scrapers.com/

The site expalins the benefit of a crank scraper. Racers have used them for years, but are also used on some new street motors.

wait...i dont get it. if the VERY minor drag the oil has on the engine..wouldnt the teflon just get back that drag? atleast untill its made its own gap? and then you have little bits of teflon floating in your oil

cool product though!

If the teflon bits sheared off in very small (and I mean VERY small) chunks, it'd probably be okay - these would be trapped in the filter and no biggie. What I'd be concerned about is larger sections getting sheared away - especially after initial bed-in and plugging up some of the smaller oil passages.

I'm currently using a CrankScrapers.com scraper in my 2.0LNA 924 racecar, very happy with it. Very well made, good product, also works well as a baffle to cut down on the oil creeping up the side of the block. Good stuff, and excellent price!

This is a must for the track car. I'd prefer to not do rod bearings this summer.

Cheap insurance.

So, how much power does this actually give you? Similar to the cone air filter?

Better oil management is the key here.

I contacted Kevin over a year ago while my engine was apart in hopes for a scraper, engine is now up and running but I will be buying one for future install.

Thanks Kevin,

Screw power (altho if it gave back some power, ill love that). Im out to reduce the chances of the rod bearings going out.

Can anybody think of any reason not to get one for my part-street part-DE part-autox 951? It would be convenient to install one right now since the engine is out...
