It looks like it is going back together very well! I really admire your accomplishment. I'm trying to do the same thing to my car, but I am not making the same rate of progress as you are. If I'm lucky, I'll have the engine compartment and various front-end sheet metal done in a month. $800 is very believable... I already have $200 in supplies and I have not even bought any paint yet (that does include some things like sanding blocks which are tools that you can re-use though). However, on top of that is the equipment: Remote fresh air supply ($350... you can also use an organic respirator but I preferred the fresh air route) Spray guns, dry air etc. But hopefully it pays off. Certainly it has in your case. I agree about the hard work. On top of all the prep is getting a good work area ready (I'm still working on my "booth"...). It really takes patience!

With Dan's help you also can rest easy knowing you did all the right steps. It was reading about Dan's job on 944Pete's S2 that got me started on this.

As a specific question, what did you do for fans/ventilation etc?

Thank you for continuing to post more pics, not only is it enjoyable to admire fine work, but it is also inspiring and helpful!

Dan- looks pretty darn good, I'll post pics!

Allan- sounds like you have a serious project in store. For ventalation, my garage has a side door, so we just bought one of those big box fans, faced it out and opened the door. This really pulled alot of the overspray out of the garage, worked great in my opinion. Good Luck with the work. The more careful prep you do the better it will turn out, trust me.

She just keeps getting better and better!!!!
I love the way the paint looks, keep having to go out to the garage to ask myself, is that really MY car???
It looks amazing, and will get only better w/ sanding and buffing.

i was about to call you out on the overspray too it can be quite messy after wetsanding, when i was helping my dad with the mustang it needed a good wash to get all the white dried up sanding water out of the little spaces and stuff.

and your time frame sounds like you did it right, 80-100 hours from what i can tell is what a good paint job takes, including proper setup, prep, hard work.

kudos, lookin nice

How did you duplicate the bumpy texture along the lower sides of the car? Did you just sand it smooth and paint?

scuffed up the old paint and prime/ painted over it. When i painted mine i just got rid of all of it, loved the smooth look until all the rock chips started appearing.
