The brakes taht come on N/A cars was used on the orignal Carrera GT's. I found this out on the 924board.org. I looked into it. The suspension I could see. The brakes just need better pads and fluid.

Don't the S pistons have four recesses cut whereas the turbo pistons are dished?

hmm.
you are correct. but the 951 motor is also an interference motor. so I would think that if the valves dont hit on one side of the piston...then if 2 more valves were added, they wouldnt hit on the other side. since the dish goes on both sides equally. you could get the two pistons and compare!

as for saying 250 rpm increments isnt tuning. at least 70% of all standalone computers tune in that many increments. the computer i will be using will tune inthat range. (of course ill also have control of MAP, timing, and buttloads of other stuff...woo!)

As for brakes I "plan" on using the rennbay 4-pistons, that should be plenty for autoX and maybe but not likely a DE or two. For suspension I have four brand new KONI Yellows in the box and a M030 rear sway. After speaking with my main local mechanics Mayo Performance, a place that only works on Porsche and usually only works on race Porsches, he told me that tightening the front had a negative effect to the cars' already apparent understeer. We decided on the suspension above with coil-overs being a little over priced at the time but soon maybe... we also did 4 new Yokohama H4S 205/60/R15 tires and a racing alignment, which is now shot due to the accident.

But I'm still a little fuzzy on whether the pistons would have to be changed to put an S head on a 951. Does any one have both pistons that they can look at and post? What was the difference in the head between a 944S and S2? I once, a long time ago, believed that the S head was 8-valve and just had a higher compression. How did the '88/89 951S get their extra power?

Thanks

those 951 i believe had a larger turbo.

as for the S VS S2. the S2 head is on the 3.0 Liter bottom end. it DOES have a different pattern of water passages ect and would not fit a 2.5 L block.

since the 951 pistons are lower compression and they have the dish all the way around...I dont think you will have and valve clearance issues. the 951 ppistons dont have knotches in them for 2 valves...so what difference does two more on the other side matter?

Under those circumstances how are people running 3.0L turbos, even with standard 8 valve heads.
If an S2 head won't fit on a 2.5 then how does a reg. head fit on a 3.0

no
they bore/stroke out the 951 motor to 3.0 L

they don't get a 3 liter block and put a 951 head ont here.

Sweet action. So what I'm thinking about IS possible without custom maching (other than bore?). I was pretty sure it was since there was that 951 raffled off for charity, A few people around here remmember it. I'm aiming for that in the LOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNG run.
