Tequilla yummm!
I had some Margerettaville tequilla this weekend, tasted like coconut candy. Pretty good stuff. I don't even like coconut.

I'll pull the dme relay from the other car and try that first.

Thats what I was looking for, thanks Steve. Although the S has only one sensor. I wonder if the readings will be the same?

Centeral Park is a housing project east of downtown between dowtown and Ybor.
It's on the cornor of East Cass and Nebraska.

Let me know how the DME Relay swap goes. Sure sounds like that is the culprit.

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having similar issues and would love to know what the ultimate fix was!

Here's hoping it was something simple...

This is exactly what my S did when the cam chain snapped. Just died when I started to pull away from an intersection. I didn't loose any valve's, but my cams were shot.

Still checking.
Relays, ref sensor all good. Cam belt ok. I have not removed valve cover yet. Kind of afraid to.

I'll let ya know what I find.

Turning on AC activates the the two front fans, which draw a lot of current. When there is not sufficient ground in a 944, the current will try to ground through the DME ground - this will cause the DME to shut off. I would start with cleaning engine grounds - starting at battery itself.

Good info specail tool.

I did install icesharks cables about 6 months ago. So I am pretty sure my grounds are ok.

Have you checked for gas, spark and compression? How were they?

Ok heres what I found.

When I crank the engine by hand, the balance shaft belt turns but the cam belt does not.

The cam belt does not seem to be broken. It does not feel to tight or to loose. I did not find any rubber pieces under the cover. You can not see the belt once it goes behind the auto tensioner, so I guess the belt could be stipped down on the crank.

So what should I do next?
Do I need to remove the crank so I can see behind it?

Do you have all of the belt covers off? Lets see what's behind them. Then go from there.

You could remove the belts and see what they look like. If the belt is stripped, gotta figure there are bent valves.

I think it's time for a renegade conversion.

If I have to remove the belts, how do I set the cams at TDC?

Marks on the flywheel when looking from up top center of engine bay there is a window. You have to line up the arrow type piece with the line then line up the normal TDC mark on the cam. I know on the Turbo that line is hard to see because of all the mess I have back there. A good line and help to turn the crank while another person looks. Don't try to start it before you find out what is wrong. Not all of your valves could be damaged. Also did you pull the cover to check the chain tensioner. Best of luck. If you need more information or help let me know.

Yes, I did check the cam chain and it is ok.

If I try to set the engine to TDC will the pistons not hit the valves? (I'm sure they already have).

Can I just take the tension off of the auto tensioner to be able to move the belt around to see if it is stripped?

Although I guess it would have to be if the belt is not turning.
