Default AFM rebuild

Hi,
I did some searching, but too many terms got me too few posts, and just "AFM" gets you 100s. Also, I opened my AFM once to try the re-tracking, but lost my nerve and called George @ 944ecology. He basically said that it was a good thing that I'd lost my nerve, and he doesn't recommend that anyone try to fix their own.

So what I'm looking for: there was someone who rebuilds the AFM's, and I think they were in SoCal. I just moved to San Diego, so that would be great, especially if it was no more than $150 or so. Also, I just bought a sweet WRX wagon , so lead time is no big deal.

Thanks,
Brett

So Vertex will do it for $229, which is about half the price of a new one. Anybody know of anything better?

Funny you should mention this....

A buddy of my from my SE-R days called me tonight. He's starting to get into ECU tuning (not ready for prime-time yet). Among the things we talked about was the 944 AFM. I think the Mitsubishis use the same or similar AFM (he currently is tunning his own Mitsu VR-4). He told me that each individual AFM is laser calibrated from the factory. That should give you pause before monkeying around inside.
