Matt, multiple Uhauls refused to rent me a full trailer because of the height of the trailer compared to the car. I later just found it easier to tell them I was towing a Neon, they never asked again (sometimes the same place on the same day, talk about intelligent workforce!)

FWIW, I have found Uhaul to be the single worst outlet I have ever dealt with.

Another option is to rent a 26' Ryder commercial truck, have a flat bed driver put the car in the truck, tie it down and have a flat bed unload it. I have pictures somewhere, if you need to know what I am talking about. The rental and flatbed service ran about 450 dollars and I got to drive a 10 speed commerical truck (too cool!!)

U haul told me if its a 1990 S2, they would rent the dolly to me. If its any other year 944, they won't. I bought a new trailer (custom ordered and picked it up friday) and retired my 2003 model because I wanted drop axles, which lowers the trailer 4 inches. Its very close to the ground but it did set me back $2100.

That's awesome legolan... I will get my own trailer soon. Probably another year or so.

Matt...

FWIW, I have found Uhaul to be the single worst outlet I have ever dealt with.
I completely agree. Most of the time they are incompetent ***** at the checkout counter. My "situation" that we got comp'd for was because we got accused of not returning a trailer one time. Didn't know anything about it until we got a letter in the mail from UHaul corporate. The letter was rude and accusatory. My pops hit the ceiling. Called corporate, and in only the way my pops can told them to get bent in a polite and professional manner. Turns out the trailer turned up several states away, and that their trailers at this particular location were not locked up and someone stole it. Pretty funny if you ask me.

Last time I needed a trailer for me was when I took Argento to Zotz Garage in Orlando. I am an old pro so after waiting inside for what seemed like forever, while the ***** mulled around a bit, I went outside, backed the Expo up myself using visual guidelines in the distance, hooked the trailer up, drove back to the office, gave them the trailer unit number and left. Pretty funny.

On an similar note, one thing I will say though is that we had to get a trailer to bring a 951 back from Atlanta. OMG the Georgian girl working the counter was so unbelievably hot I wanted to take her back to Florida with me.

Its only 400 miles. If the t-belt was changed, drive it. I drove mine 2200 miles back to home... It didn't have low miles like yours, but they were pretty low for the year. The cars are not worth much on paper so enjoy it.

New tires and seals are already done - one of the reasons the previous owner sold is related to him paying out to replace all these things even though he didn't drive it much. I'll trailer it if the cost is minimal - e.g local rental $30/day. I can fly there for $300 plus a taxi ride so if the trailer is close to one-way rates - $450, I'm driving her back. As always, thanks everyone for your marvelous insights!
Anyone tried Penske or Budget rentals on the trailers?

It might be cheaper to get a round trip airline ticket then a one way and just don't use the return half.
