That's ruled out, since I have a brand new spring-centered clutch that doesn't slip!!

Thanks for the knowledge Danno!! Sounds like my problem exactly!

PS-- Is it BAD for the engine / clutch to coast while in gear?? I would hate to step on the clutch every time I slow down from 55-50, or 45-40, then speed up again.
The TPS will be on the opposite side of the throttle body of the throttle cable.

Boy if we had computer readout capability on these cars it would be so easy to isolate a problem like this. The obd2 interface shows the position of the throttle while driving the car if you put the scanner on datastream. I've done searches on the scanner for the NA's and the only thing I found was the blink code reader for turbo's. Anyone found anything else? It might help Andy set up a new tps switch?

Well, this is happening on my 83 944, I just push the clutch in when it seems to die for a second or two when coasting/slowing down. Just had the clutch checked out by a P car mechanic as fine, I thought it might have been that, whoo, how do you spell relief?

You can actually adjust the throttle position sensor, so its possible it might not be faulty.

I read that Paragon tech session about the TPS. It says that S2's and Turbos have the TPS next to the throttle, so it's easier to access? I assume my TPS is either out of adjustment (could have slipped), or shot.

I remember having a surging idle at some point, so maybe the mechanic moved the switch, fixed the idle, but caused it to be out of adjustment the other way?
